Musings on Spiritual Matters

Back From the Mountains

veisturs-tpMost of you will noticed that this blog has been silent a lot this summer.  I have been on a lot trips.  While I was in Canada, I mostly did not want to blog, and it is good taking a break too.  If you do not have anything to say, mostly it is best to saying nothing.  This past week I had no choice in no blogging.  I was in the woods with three other guys.  We were hiking the 14ers together and camping at the trailheads.  Soap never touched my body for days.  We hiked four 14ers in three days.  We did a combination of 24 miles, with 11,000 vertical feet gained.  We did two hard ones in one day, we did one easy one, and then we did one that if you made a mistake you would have died.  It was so challenging and difficult, one misstep an down the mountain you would go.  It was truly a place of feeling exposed.  The guys I hiked with were so strong.  I never worried about them and doubted them.  They climbed like professionals.  This summer we never had interns so I have invested some extra time into the teens and I believe it has been good for everyone involved.
