Breaking of a Leader’s Heart

http://www.fitbuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/broken-heart.jpgThe greatest leaders in the world are those who stand alone and push for development within an organization. Being a leader is a lonely job because of this vision for the future. A leader is someone who steps out of the crowd to push an organization or church in the right direction. This pushing creates conflict, questions, and criticism in organizations and congregations. A leader leads people. This means that he is the first one over the hill in battle, he is the one who pushes the controversial idea, and he is the one that is attacked for upsetting the status quo. A true leader is the one who has the burning passion for a congregation to reach out into the community, to conform to Christ instead of culture, to stand for sound doctrine instead of blending in, and to change a congregation from the comfort zone to the Christlike zone. And none of this is easy because of the overwhelming systemic pressures within a congregation. A true leader will experience challenges and attacks from within a organization. The way the leader deals with these attacks will ultimately predict the future of his ministry. Will he succumb to the pressure to conform to the inappropriate forces of complacency or continue to drive the mission of Christ in the congregation? Will his heart be destroyed or will his heart be nourished? I have experienced both. My mentor dreams big dreams for me. There is no limit to the potential that he sees within me. He builds my heart up for the Lord. We all need a man like this within our lives. On the other hand, I have experienced the force of rejection, criticism, and attack to insure that my heart would break so that others could control my heart. Ministers and leaders, do not sell out to the conformity. Do not be a pastor in a congregation. Be a prophet, be a leader, be a preacher of God. Your heart is too important to allow it to be broken. “Fulfill Our Ministry.” There are too many broken hearted ministers that have ransomed the work of the Lord for keeping house. Be a preacher, be God’s preacher.
