Elders-Preachers Retreat

http://onemanbandwidth.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/mountain-retreat-front-door.jpgLast year the elders and the ministers went on a retreat together.  The time has come this year for this event.  We are leaving tonight to head to a cabin that one of the elders owns to spend until Sunday afternoon there bonding and dealing with issues within the congregation.  I am excited for this time together as the retreat sets the pace for the next year.  These retreats are a great blessing because the ministers and the elders can understand where everyone is coming from on the various issues and everyone can discuss the topics to make sure that we are on the same page in moving forward.  It has almost been a year since Charity and I came to work with the congregation in Castle Rock.  A lot of great progress has been made.  Also, a ton of great families have come to worship with us during this time.  We have had a great summer with two interns, Zach and Bjorn doing a masterful job, Steven and Bren have been a true treat to work with during the year.  We have been blessed.  With all of the blessings though, we do not want to forget that there is still a ton of work to do.  There is a ton of potential for this congregation.  People in the congregation are stepping up all the time to serve the Lord.  The congregation was averaging about 194 when we arrived, now the congregation is averaging about 235.  We are happy with the growth, but never want to be content with this.  There are still souls to be saved in this town; thousands of them that need to have a relationship with the Lord.  I am thankful for this time with the other ministers and with the elders.  The future is bright and we must work to keep it this way.
