Musings on Spiritual Matters

Great Weekend in Ohio

This past weekend I was up with the Fishinger and Kenny Church of Christ.  Typically, I will mention on the blog where I am going, but mostly my wife does not appreciate me announcing that I will be gone before hand, so this is a recap post.  I had a awesome weekend, as the highlight was spending time with Greg Tidwell, who is the pulpit minister there, as well as the editor of the Gospel Advocate.  This guy is a genius, and probably taught me more about Christianity than I have learned in a long time.  It was great connecting with him, and it seemed that we had a strong connection in purpose and in friendship.  It was a honor to stay with him and his family.  The youth retreat went well.  The congregation there has a wonderful group of teenagers, and I was impressed with the strong Bible knowledge of the youth.  The teens also made me feel welcomed, as I had a lot of opportunities to play games and hang out with them.  The highlight was the football game.  I was quarterback for the team.  Another treat was going to the local Tim Horton’s.  Of course these are cultural icons in Canada, and it has been some years since I had a timbit and a coffee from the place.  It was fun going to the coffee house.  Another treat was helping and watching the boys of Greg receive the Eagle Scout award.  This was a big event, and it was fun being there.  The boys got a ton of great letters from some ultra famous people.  Overall, it was a awesome weekend, and really a treat to become friends with Greg.
