Musings on Spiritual Matters

Happy Thanksgiving

Well, the thanks giving holiday is here.  Tomorrow should be a fun day.  It will be nice to have a little break and reflect on all that we are thankful for in life.  And I must admit, I have a ton of stuff to be thankful for in life.  But this time of year makes me wonder.  Yes, I know we should be thankful, yes we should count our blessings, but what about those people who are dealing with a really sick child, or the family that is about to split up, or the family that is broke.  Yes, yes, you should be thankful, but sometimes life can be difficult.  It is not always easy to count one’s blessings.  You can have the right attitude, but it is easier for some of us.  We have a great family, great children, great wife, great church, great health.  Wow, it is not hard for me to be thankful, but I dealt with a really sick child one year.  And it was hard.  Probably, the key to really being thankful is not found in that which is on earth, but that which is spiritual.  There has to be thanksgiving for the spiritual blessings in Christ.  Too often at thanksgiving we reflect on that which we have on earth, but for some, there is not much, but we all can be thankful for the Lord Jesus Christ, and the gift of salvation.  During this time of year, let us focus on that which is most precious, which is the gift of Christ.
