I Made It In!
A friend of mine, named Collin Packer was sitting next to me during the unity service for the Front Range Congregations in Denver, and we started talking about a post on his blog. The post dealt with his heritage within the churches of Christ. His family background goes back approximately ten generations. In his post, he was talking about being born into the church on third base. This is not my story. On his blog, I posted a comment that I was born in the dugout. After some reflection, I realized that this was not the case. I told Collin that I changed my mind. I was not born in the dugout but on the other side of the fence looking through the peep hope. Collin commented to me that “you made it in.” My heart flowed with thankfulness. I did make it in. I am in. I am on the field with great Christian people. I am on this journey with a great congregation of God’s people in Castle Rock. I have been so blessed by the churches of Christ. Everyday I am thankful to be playing in this game. I made it in. There have been so many great people throughout my life. People who have loved me, been compassionate to me, and have mentored me. The churches of Christ are an amazing network of congregations. There is a great journey and story that we are part of that flows through ages. I really feel like the little child who was watching the game take place, watching through the small peep hole as the stars of the game came up to the plate, but than the owner of the team saw me, and invited me in to sit with him behind home plate in the best seats in the stands to watch the game with him. He brought me a coke and a hotdog, and than took me down to meet the players. And as I was walking out, thankful that I got to see the game of a lifetime, told me “young man, any time you want, there is an available seat right next to me, come anytime you want.” So every game I am thankful to be in this stadium next to the King. I made it in, and I am so thankful!

Me too, Tuesday sounds great for lunch.
Are you coming to Castle Rock, or want to meet somewhere?
That’s up to you. Would you like me to come to Castle Rock or would you like a reason to come into Denver?
For those of us who are really from afar it is an incredible journey. The people we “get” to journey with make it an interesting journey and the Father makes it incredible. Good analogy.
If you can come here, that would be great, but if you know of a cool place near Denver, that would be cool too.
I’ll come to Castle Rock but let’s make it 11:30 because I need to be back in Brighton by 2:00. See you then.
Grace and peace,
Rex
Matthew,
Love the post, but I prefer a football analogy. The stadium is a beautiful one and rather large, sitting on the banks of a river, nestled in the hills, let’s call it Neyland Stadium. There the great warriors of faith all wear orange, which as we all know symbolizes purity and greatness, while Satan and his minions wear crimson, colored by the blood of all those they have injured. Now as we all know per Revelation, the Crimson will win a battle or two, but in the end the Orange will be VICTORIOUS!
As good old King James would say, GO BIG ORANGE! BEAT BAMA!
