Learning to Write a Dissertation

http://www.upenn.edu/gazette/0905/images/gaz07.gifI sent the last assignment for the Doctorate of Ministry class at Denver Seminary, and now I am kicking the next class in high gear.  This class is a foundational class that teaches you to conduct research for your dissertation project.  The class teaches you to write the prospectus for the dissertation.  There are a lot of research books, essentially books on how to do research.  I finished “Research in Ministry” and now I am reading “Actions Research” and then I will be reviewing “Studying Congregations.”  I also will be reading a dissertation written by a student to review and critique.  I have two assignments of writing a story and another assignment of writing a story and thinking theologically about it.  I have my dissertation topic picked.  Super excited about this topic and feel that it will be a huge blessing for Castle Rock and for the entire church.  The topic is really cutting edge in my mind.  I will be in Memphis again from Sept. 30 to Oct 9.  It should be fun and I will be eating ribs as well.
