My Little Girl Has Eczema

http://www.ukhairdressers.com/food%20for%20thought/eczema.jpgGabrielle has always struggled with Eczema. Mostly we have been able to keep this under control, but recently it is taking over her whole body. Eczema is usually confined to young children and it is confined to the elbows and knees. Gabrielle’s eczema is all over her body, from her head to her feet. It is really bad. We are doing everything possible to combat this problem, but it seems to be winning the war right now. It is painful watching her scratch all day long and she has trouble sleeping because she is itching so much. We try to remember that really this is not a big deal compared to what a lot of people have to struggle with, but we hate it. We want to solve this so bad. She is going to a doctor on Tuesday of next week to see what can be done. We hope for a solution, but really we feel that the doctor is just going to prescribe some steroid creams, which we do not want to put on her. We are looking for more natural solutions, but at this point we are willing to almost try anything. If you have suggestions, we would love to hear them, but mostly if you could pray for her. It would mean a lot to us. Every time I think about this, it reminds me of those who have to suffer with their children. My heart goes out to those families. Honestly, I do not know how people emotional deal with children with cancer, with serious diseases, for we cannot even bear eczema. Please pray for all the children today.

  2. Matthew says:

Thank you Rex. You are an inspiration to me. For you have suffered much, but you still serve the Lord. You are a living testimony to the power of faith.

  3. eddy says:

    Lord God,
Because every concern of your children is a concern to you, we lift up Gabrielle to you in the name of Jesus, asking that you work through doctors, creams or however you choose to help Gabrielle with her eczema. Give grace to her and her family as they seek to have this probelm taken away. Grant blessings of grace I ask in Jesus name.

I’ll be praying for your family. Our 6-month old has been dealing with eczema as well, though not nearly as severely, and it is painful to watch them struggle with it. I like Eddy’s statement – every concern of God’s children is a concern of his.

  5. Matthew says:

    Thank you Eddy.

I suffer from a skin condition too. If it’s bad a skin specialist might be able to recommend other suitable options. :)

    Praying… May Gabrielle be healed!

  7. Hello, I just read your dilemma and fortunately there are so many holistic eczema treatments that you can implement on your daughter that effectively work to stop the itching. My son had it from the time he was 1 month and now that he is 4 he rarely scratches and his skin is much healthier. Before when he scratched his skin was so easily damaged but now it rarely gets damaged. If you go to my website and sign up for my free eczema newsletter you will receive an ebook I put together to help parents such as yourself get started and then you will receive a weekly tip on other eczema treatments that are helpful in controlling the itch.

  8. Terry says:

I’ll be praying for your daughter.

  9. Wendy says:

Poor baby. I have had excema mildly. What works for me is evening primrose oil capsules or wheat germ oil capsules, and using oil on my body – almond oil usually. No soap. Explore the holistic options suggested. Think about diet too. My skin is so much better now that I am wheat and dairy free. Praying for her.

  10. My girlfriend has eczema really really bad, too. It’s gotten horrible this last year. She’s used tons and tons of lotions, changed her diet, changed her shampoos and toothpastes but still… nothing.

The only thing that has helped has been steroid cream. It has virtually wiped away all of the symptoms. But she hates using them because they can thin your skin out etc.

Anyway bro, I understand. Let me know if you figure out something.

  11. John Dobbs says:

Matthew, my heart goes out to your daughter and the parents who love her so much. God bless you with healing.

  12. Wendy says:

Matthew, I remembered something else which helps. Tea tree oil. It’s strong, so use carefully but I had success with it.

  13. David Kirk says:

We will be praying for Gabrielle. God bless you and yours!

  14. Brent says:

If the steroid cream works why not use it? I think it is foolish to make the poor kid suffer because you are set in your way to only use “Natural”

  15. Matthew says:

We are not completely opposed to the creams, in fact we are using one now. The problem is that it only treats it for a short time, and then you have to start all over again. We are just looking for some more permanent solutions.

  16. Janet says:

I have a friend (nurse) who’s been through exactly the same process (and reservations) as you, and who claims her daughter is a different person with the natural therapies she’s used… feel free to email:

    ginny@aslanassociates.net

My son has mild eczema (so this advice may not apply!) but a short bath with raw oats in a stocking (instead of soap which must be avoided) can be soothing.

  17. Michelle says:

    Hello Matthew,
Not sure how I got to your blog but it seemed somewhat meant to be when I read about your little girl. I’m sorry for your troubles with this. My son has suffered with eczema since he was 8. He is now 21. We were able to keep on top of it for years with a cocktail of creams and shampoos but 2 summers ago it went from head to toe. Finally last June he was accepted into a light therapy program at one of our hospitals. Just a few minutes a day/ 5 days a week for 3 months. It has helped bring the eczema down to a controllable level and at this point he is totally off all the creams. I wish you all the best. It is not easy seeing your babes suffer. You are in my prayers.

  18. Janet says:

I had another thought… my neighbour swears that her skin has improved dramatically since attending an “advanced allergy elimination” clinic. I don’t know if there are any near you though.
