Musings on Spiritual Matters

Preaching at Hartsville Pike

blg.JPGOn Wednesday night I was invited to speak for the summer series at Hartsville Pike church of Christ. I worked with this congregation for two years. When I left, I was ready to go. I was not sure how effective I was with the congregation. But looking back I realized I had a good impact. The congregation grew because of my ministry to some young couples and to young people in the housing projects in Gallatin. I did not do what the typical young minister does, which is to develop programs for the church kids, but I reached out into areas of the community that were untouched by the congregation. Some people embraced this vision of ministry and others did not. Last year when I was at the congregation I was nervous, but this year it felt like home. I felt great to be there and see the people again. Everyone was so loving and kind. Time and distance allows us to see clearly one another. There are a ton of great people in the congregation, and it was nice to hug them again.

    Hi Mathew.

You are to be commended on the vision you not only had but in fact followed through on for untouched areas of the community. God Bless you.

Yes, there are, and will be, more of those times when others will not see and therefore fail to embrace the visions of their ministers.

In those times, we can only remain true to that vision, to God whom ultimately burdened us with it, and to ourselves.

In so doing, we will remain true to those we are called to.

    Just Passing Through.

    God Bless.

    Eddie.
