Musings on Spiritual Matters

Resigned From Waynesboro

http://www.highcountrylodges.com/imagenes/property/CastleRockExteriorCloser.jpgSadly, I resigned as the pulpit minister from the Waynesboro church of Christ. Last night was full of tears and sorrow. Waynesboro has been a wonderful work. The people are fantastic and the eldership is wonderful. Anyone would be happy to be the preacher in Waynesboro. In the last four and a half years, the congregation has grown significantly. It is a small town with a big heart. I hate to go, but I feed the need to enter into the mission field. We are going to be the pulpit minister for the Castle Rock church of Christ in Castle Rock, which is a town of about 45,000 people that is south of Denver about 25 miles. It is a growing and developing area that should have a ton of protential. I grew up in a mission field and did not grow up in the church and I feel that to maximize my talents, it would be best to sacrifice being close to family and being part of a wonderful and loving congregation, to move into the mission field to serve the Lord. Please keep my family and myself in your prayers as we make this transition.

Matthew,I am sorry to hear, but not surprised,of your resignation. I think you have done an excellent job at Waynesboro though I have observed only from afar off. Of course Waynesboro is my home congregation and home town. I think I know the goodness and the faults of that work about as well as anyone and I don’t believe anyone could have done a better job in bringing stability than you have. I understand your thinking of mission work and moving to such a point. We do have to practice what we preach. I believe you will do well. I wish God’s blessings on you and I especially thank you for visiting my parents often. Momma always looks forward to your visits and will miss them.
