Three Years in Waynesboro

waynesboro_logo2.jpgToday marks the third year that I have been with Waynesboro as the Pulpit Minister. A lot has happened in three years, had our first children, might have our second child today, completed a M.A. in Bible, almost finished a M.Div in Bible at FHU. Felt like I have grown so much. But with the marking of three years, I wonder, why have I stayed this long. Charity and I have received offers from other congregations, even a congregation of 800 members, but we remain here, happy and content. So why do we stay. First of all, the people are wonderful, it is a joy to work with a congregation that is not beating up the minister and his family. Second of all, the elders are great. They are always fair, upright, and truly respectful of my family and desires. Third of all, my wife loves it here, she is on the board of the birth center, and has great relationships in the church. Fourth of all, I love it here, this small little town makes me feel special. Fifth of all, I have great neighbors with a pool, I live in a beautiful preacher’s house (typically this is a terrible thing, but not here), and I have more perks around town than I can count. Most of all, we are here because we feel God wants us here. We can serve the Lord, and that is the best of all.

I recently stumbled onto your site and have really enjoyed it. I did my B.A. at FHU and am in the GST at ACU. I saw that you are about to begin Buttrick’s monumental work. Before you begin it, I’d recommend reading a bit about it. It is EXTREMELY long, and needlessly so.

I have a summary of it in PDF form that I could send to you. Just email me at the email address linked to this post if you are interested.

Keep up the good work. I enjoy your site very much.
