Sunday night, after services, I was taking out the trash to the road. As I was walking back, I noticed over the horizon in the direction of the rolling hills of Waynesboro, a separation of the sky. Above me was dark thunderclouds, full of angry rain and noise, but in the distance was a glimmer of beauty. Peeking over the hills was a orange bright sky, like the eye of God looking upon me. This scene seemed like a metaphor for Christianity. Performing the mundane, taking out the trash, with crisis and chaos surrounding me, the storm clouds, but in the distance was the reminder of the glory of the Lord, the orange eye. We all walk on the earth, which is full of fury and pain, but we see every now and then, a speck of hope of a better place and a better time.

Matthew it is good to meet you. I looked at your old blog and now your new one. Keep up the reading of GOOD books. Don’t just read to rush through but read to savor and meditate … I am sure you already do this however.
Look forward to getting to know you better.
Shalom,
Bobby Valentine
Wow! What a great picture & fitting commentary. I’m printing this for my wall, to remind me of the best things in life.
Yeah that does take your mind off of your troubles. I know when times seem hard to me I can always look up and now that there will always be some one there to help me in more ways than one.
