Home From Silver Springs
Years ago I caught a vision from Ervin Jackson who was a professor at Heritage Christian University. The vision was to have a diverse congregation within the church. He was working on fulfilling this goal in the Florence area. This past weekend I experienced his dream in full reality. At the Silver Springs congregation all people, from all backgrounds come together as one to praise the Lord. But instead of the service being tense, the praise was infectious. There was a diversity that brought beauty to the worship. It was a joy to preach for the congregation.
Charity and I had a wonderful time with the congregation. We ate with most of the elders at their homes. Everyone was super hospitable. Gabrielle even made some friends that she considered her own. She continued to inform me that Dede and Stephanie were her friends. These girls were precious. Charity and I would like to thank everyone for encouraging us and supporting us. We were blessed to be with you all.
The Lord had a dream that all the walls that were man made would come down so that all peoples would join together in praise to the Lord. At Silver Springs this dream is reality.

You guys blessed us by coming to Silver Spring, and we all miss your family (especially Gabrielle)!
Thank you, she misses you too.
Glad that your meeting was so refreshing for you and I am sure for them as well. Thanks for the sermons:-)
Where I preach we got our first black family in the history of this congregation. I was excited. He is a great song leader. He leads in the fashion of his black heritage. The Christians here were very appreciative of this family. Soon after coming they began to miss a lot. They became discouraged with Bible classes and other things. This past Sunday he told me they were going back to the congregation they attended before. I truly believe I did all I could to keep them. We need them. We can’t get the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. black families without a first. We have a large population of blacks, biracial and Hispanics in our community. Most of our people loved them, but, honestly the eldership did not shepherd them as they should have. This gave this family an excuse to move on. They are not nearly as faithful as they talked. Great people, I love them very much and will miss them. I am looking for another black family to worship with us. I want all families (people) in our community to worship with us. Pray for me as I look to bring to the Lord a black family that will help us reach others.
PS I hope the way I used the words “black family” is not bothersome to anyone. Just can’t think of another way to describe what I was trying to say.
Hello Matthew,
Thanks for spreading the vision.
I googled my name trying to find something and I ran across your article. I happy that the vision of human togetherness lives
